Thank goodness, and I really appreciate Airbnb for doing the right thing. I’m not making any assumptions, but it’s possible another host paid her to do this. The market is competitive, and who knows what people are willing to do.

Another lesson learned: I didn’t write a review for her. If I had, removing that 1-star review would have been much harder. If you have a bad feeling, don’t write the review. I had to wait 14 days to see her review, but it was worth it because I sensed something was off.

Here are a few red flags I learned from this experience:

  1. She lived in my area, so I should have asked why she was visiting.
  2. She didn’t respond to any of my Airbnb messages. I should have texted her personal phone number to check if everything was okay.
  3. Don’t write a review or respond to hers review, they can use it against you.
