  • If you can speak more than one language fluently you will have the opportunity to land more jobs
  • Sometimes you will get audio files that are of bad quality or contain a speaker with a heavy accent you will make more if you get those files.

1. Crowdsurf

Crowdsurf requires no previous experience, all they request is that you take an assessment test. The work ranges from 5 seconds to 30 seconds per audio clip, so you should be able to bang out a job in 10 minutes or less.

Pay ranges from $0.03-$0.20 per audio minute Plus additional bonus rates.

2. Daily Transcription

Daily Transcription is always looking to hire professional and novice transcriptionists.

All you need to do to apply is head over to their site, fill out a form and attach your resume. Don’t worry if you don’t have any previous transcription experience, but if you do make sure to include it on your resume.

After you submit the form, you are ready to take the assessment test. If you pass, they’ll let you know.

They seem to pay around $0.75 to $1.10 per audio minute. Pay is sent out every two weeks via PayPal.

3. Neal R Gross

Neal R. Gross has been in business for over 40 years and it does court reporting and transcription for various government and private clients

They do have a few requirements for anyone looking to transcribe for them:

  • Type at least 60 words per minute.
  • Be fluent in English.
  • Be able to work a minimum of 30 hours per week.
  • Must be able to transcribe at least 5 hours of audio per week.
  • They don’t require any previous transcription experience.

4. Tigerfish

Tigerfish is an excellent fit for beginner transcriptionists. All they require is that you be 18 years old and no previous experience required.

The application process is simple. All you have to do is transcribe three audio files following the rules in their style guide.

You then paste your transcripts for each audio file into the application form and write in how long it took you to finish each.

Then you just need to fill out some information about yourself, any previous experience you have, and your availability. That’s it!

They pay around $0.005 per word transcribed.

5. Transcription Divas

Transcript Divas has very high standards because their #1 goal is to provide the best work to their clients.  If you filled out the application but have not heard back, they’re probably not interested in having you work with them. 

If they do want you, they’ll contact you to set up a test and phone interview. They will pay for the average rate is around $20 per hour.

6. Ubiqus

Ubiqus is looking for native English speakers from the US. They would like you to have 1-5 years of relevant experience, but if you can give a valid reason why you would be a good fit then you may still have a chance without experience.

However, if you are applying for a legal or medical transcription job, having 1-5 years of experience is a must. They will pay you between $7 to $14 per hour.

7. Verbal Ink

This is yet another legit transcription service company that hires people looking for ways to earn money online. This company has a good reputation and it requires you to pass an English test to be accepted and you will have to submit a CV before you can be considered for jobs.

Most of the jobs that come through get pay at around $0.85 an audio minute. And their salaries say they average between $10 and $11 hourly.

8. 3Play Media

This company provides transcription opportunities for beginners as well as professionals to work online as editors and transcribers. However, you must pass an English proficiency test to be considered

They do still require that you be able to type 75 words per minute. Pay ranges from $10-$30 per hour depending on your skills.

9. eScribers

eScribers claims to be one of the largest legal transcription and reporting companies in the country and is continuing to grow.   Right now, they are seeking experienced legal transcribers, proofreaders, and electronic and stenographic reporters to add to their team of independent contractor service providers

What’s cool about this company is you don’t necessarily need Legal Transcription experience; as long as you have some experience as a transcriber in a different industry, they’re happy to consider you.

They pay you over $1 per audio minute which can potentially earn up to $20 – $30 an hour.

Here the truth about beginner transcription jobs, most of the site hire beginner they don’t pay a lot.

The really successful transcriptionists have their own private clients. This means they have bloggers, podcasters, YouTubers, and other content creators who go to them every time they need something transcribed.

So your main target is content creator uh me. Imagine this every YouTuber that I know pumps out 1 or 2 contents per week or more. A podcaster releases an episode every week.
